In Celebration of Father's Day, I'd like to take this opportunity to celebrate the men behind some of our favourite mamas.
We asked a number of dads within the Cushii community to reflect on their favourite moments and memories that have defined their experience with a tiny human.
Because their experience with fatherhood is just as emotional, love-filled and heart-warming as it is for us mums.
Simply with a dad’s touch.

How has your perception of what it means to be a dad changed since you've welcomed your bubba?
“Being responsible and in control of how your child grows into this world is something that I had never thought too much about before she had arrived. It’s so exciting to help and see her develop.”
What was the first thing that came to mind when you first held your bubba after birth?
“First the tears flowed and then I realised we created this little human. It was an amazing feeling! I was blown away with it all.”
What has blown your mind most about babies since becoming a dad?
“You can never be prepared enough. I learn new things everyday. Just seeing them grow day by day is crazy.”
What values are most important for you to pass onto your kids?
“I really want my daughter to understand values such as honesty, sharing, empathy, compassion and respect. Look at all cultures as equal and respect the world and everything about it.”

What has been the highlight of life with your tiny human?
“Dressing in matching outfits and I love making her laugh.”
How has becoming a dad changed you as a person?
“The realisation that you’re now someone’s role model and what you say and do shapes them as a human.”
Why are inspiring dads like you so important for tiny humans?
“It’s important that we break generational cycles and be there emotionally for our kids so we raise children who feel supported to be themselves.”
What has blown your mind most about babies since becoming a dad?
“I didn’t think a little human could shit so much and I didn’t think it was possible to function on so little sleep.”

What's the most precious memory you've made with your young family since your bubba has joined you?
“Family holidays are always the highlight of my year. I love spending time away with the kids.”
How has your perception of what it means to be a dad changed since you've welcomed your bubba?
“I never really thought about it before I became a dad, but I couldn’t imagine my life any other way.”
Why are inspiring dads like you so important for tiny humans?
“I think we all play important roles in our kids’ lives. I just want them all to grow up to be good humans. And I’d like to think I’m a good role model for my kids.”
What was the first thing that came to mind when you first held your bubba after birth?
“The first thing that came to mind was ‘wow they look like a tiny old person’.”
Brian Farrell
What has been the highlight of life with your tiny human?
“To start with, I don’t have one but two highlights. I was blessed with my twins Dana and Shay. The biggest highlight is seeing their faces light up when they wake up from a sleep and realise that it is me staring back at them. They have the biggest smiles and their eyes light up to see me. It’s an amazing feeling.”
How has your perception of what it means to be a dad changed since you've welcomed your bubba?
“I wouldn’t say my perception of being a dad has changed. I had prepared myself mentally to be the best father I could be and try and take every experience with the twins for what it was. I do recognise the helplessness of babies now and the constant need for their parents from wiping noses to helping them sit and crawl.
The range of things you need to be to be a great father is huge.
I also had a great father who gave me an excellent example to follow so although the twins were my firstborns, I was well aware of what a good father is”.
Why are inspiring dads like you so important for tiny humans?
“We are ever-present and the ones who are most important to help shape and teach our children right from wrong. Ultimately, they will reflect what they see.”
What was the first thing that came to mind when you first held your bubba after birth?
“The birth of our twins was a traumatic one involving an emergency c section and a night in ICU for mum so it has taken me a while to appreciate the miracle of birth. In the theatre itself it was a blur but I do remember a surreal moment when we heard both babies cry as they were born. It was reassuring and a huge relief.”

“She is now the highlight of my day and has made me appreciate smaller moments.”
What has been the highlight of life with your tiny human so far?
“We love dressing in matching outfits and I love making her laugh.”
How has your perception of what it means to be a dad changed since you've welcomed your bubba?
“Babies aren’t as fragile as I first thought! I was always too scared to hold a baby. But now I love a good cuddle with her.”
What has blown your mind most about babies since becoming a dad?
“They have a personality so early on that shines through.”

What's the most precious memory you've made with your young family since your bubba has joined you?
“Welcoming them into the world has been the clear highlight so far.”
Why are inspiring dads like you so important for tiny humans?
“Dads are super important because every child needs a positive father figure in their life.”
What was the first thing that came to mind when you first held your bubba after birth?
“Shiz just got real.”
What values are most important for you to pass onto your kids?
“Some of the most important things for me are family, faith, honesty, integrity and kindness. So I’d love to pass that on.”

What has been the highlight of life with your tiny human?
“Everyday I see them smile and laugh.”
What's the most precious memory you've made with your young family since your bubba has joined you?
“Simple things like a day picnic or travel to another state. And seeing the kids all interact with each other is always precious. I can’t name one memory as there are many that happen weekly.”
What is your favourite part of being a dad?
“Hugs, smiles and seeing them grow. And witnessing or sharing a new achievement with them.”
What values are most important for you to pass onto your kids?
“Having motivation, being thoughtful of others, you can be anything you want to be, love what you do.”
